SUMMARY:LUNCH & LEARN x Purdue Extension
DESCRIPTION:Food\, Insecure: Local Stories and Solutions\n\nPurdue Extension Nutrition Education Program\n\n\nFood insecurity affects more people in our community than you might think. From working families to seniors and children\, hunger often hides in plain sight - and its impact reaches far beyond the dinner table. Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking Lunch & Learn as we screen Food\, Insecure\, a 30-minute Indiana-based documentary that shines a light on the lived experiences of Hoosiers facing food insecurity.\n\n\n\nThis film is a follow-up to The Working Hungry\, a widely viewed documentary released in 2022 that explored the root causes of food insecurity across Indiana. Food\, Insecure\, builds on that foundation with updated data\, new stories\, and a deeper look into how hunger continues to impact individuals\, families\, and communities.\n\n\n\nFollowing the screening\, we'll host a panel discussion with local experts and leaders who are on the front lines of addressing hunger in our community. Jennifer Fletcher\, MD\, Hospitalist at Decatur County Memorial Hospital\; Melissa Foist\, Executive Director and Kitchen Manager at Greensburg Community Bread of Life\; Diana Robbins\, Executive Director of Greensburg Melas on Wheels\; and Catherine Niese\, Community Wellness Coordinator with Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program\, will share their insights\, stories\, and local solutions that their organizations are doing. There will also be time for a Q&A session.\n\n\n\nBy shining light on local needs and local efforts\, this session offers both perspective and possibility. Whether you're a business leader\, educator\, nonprofit professional\, or a community member\, you'll walk away with a better understanding of how food insecurity affects Decatur County and how you can help make a difference.\n\n \n We hope to have you join us on Tuesday\, May 13th at 12 PM!\n\n \n\nLunch is provided - RSVP Today!\n\nYou DO NOT have to be a Chamber Member to attend - this event is open to the general public!\n\n\n\nMembers: FREE | Non-Member: $10\n\n\n\n***Due to a catered lunch\, there are NO CANCELLATIONS accepted. If you are unable to attend\, please notify the GDC Chamber of Commerce 24+ hours prior to the event\, or notify us of an attendee replacing your spot. NO REFUNDS.***
